What's CFPEC
Introduction of China Forest & Paper Executive
Club
China Forest & Paper Executive Club (CFPEC) is a non-governmental
organization that initiated by celebrated entrepreneurs of pulp,
paper and related businesses incorporated in China. Launched in
March 2002 by 28 founding members, CFPEC has grown to 44 members.
CFPEC aims at providing the venue for those executives to exchange
in-depth views on strategy; working as the bridge to facilitate
communication among the paper industry, related government department
and media, as well as an important link between domestic forest
& paper corporations and those counterparts outside China.
The club also contributes a lot to healthy and stable growth of
the industry and strives hard to make China to be a large and
powerful papermaking country in the world. All social activities
of the club strictly abide by the Constitution of the People's
Republic of China, other laws, regulations, national policies
and accord with international practice. The club will not conduct
or organize any social programs involving inappropriate competition.
CFPEC implements the institute of membership. Any scaled forest
& paper enterprises registered in industry that accept the
club's constitution and pledge to fulfill their duties may apply
to the club for the membership, whatever the character they are:
state-owned, private, joint stock or completely owned by foreign
investors and they will be qualified to join CFPEC as long as
at least 2/3 of active club members approve their applications.
Famous foreign papermaking corporations that have set up paper
mills or launched its offices in China may also submit the application
to become the "overseas members".
CFPEC has now 44 members including 6 overseas companies. According
to the statistics ending 2004, CFPEC members together represent
21.76 million tons of pulp and paper capacity, in which high quality
paper/board and market pulp are 16.8 and 1.2 million tons respectively.
It is expected that CFPEC members will install 13 new state-of-the-art
paper machines with 3.6 million tons of new capacity by the end
of 2005.
CFPEC holds the general meeting biannually. The theme of the
meeting is mainly to evaluate the industry's development and to
discuss the development strategy among the members. CFPEC also
invites government officials from related department to participate
in the general meeting to communicate with her members——discussion
covers the topics like latest government policies and opinions
or suggestions from members to the departments concerned. CFPEC
had successfully held such kind of meeting for 8 consecutive times
by October 2005, of which, the 4th meeting was an international
seminar concerning the world forest and paper industry.
In 2004, CFPEC organized a delegation visiting Japan and Australia.
The delegation members held talks with the paper associations
from these two countries and also paid a visit to their papermaking
corporations. Other services of CFPEC include providing her members
with a monthly report concerning the paper industry and helping
to arrange business visits among the members if necessary.
General meeting is the highest organ of the CFPEC, under which,
the Chairman Committee (including one Chairman) consists of 9
representatives elected by all the members. The duties of the
Chairman Committee are to map out the club's major activities
annually and put forward preliminary plans on major decisions.
The meeting of Chairman Committee is called and hosted by the
Chairman.
Expense of the club's social activities comes from membership
fee. The use of those expenses will follow the principle of "where
coming, where going" since CFPEC is a non-profit organization.
